Giddy-up Wildcats

Karori Stallions 106/6, T Buchan 2-14, D Croft and G Hampton 1-16
Karori Wildcats 108/5 (16.1), P Fernando 28* (18), A Hampshire 23 (19)

The overnight rain wanted to make us bale
But we ignored the neigh-sayers,
And finally horsed around against the Stallions.

Our mane man was Tom Buchan as usual,
Picking up an early wicket,
While the batsmen were chomping at the bit,
And George, Nando, and Bobby kept them reined-in.

With the run-rate pretty stable, (35-3 after 11)
Their #4 made a late break,
And found the boundary a few times.

Thankfully Rupert whipped it in,
Rhys hoofed it 30 yards around the outside,
To cradle a catch sliding by the boundary.

Chasing 107 we hoped we wouldn't be batting furlong.
George and Rhys saddled-up
And turned over the strike nicely,
Till George's wicket foal for 16 (17).

Alex cantered along, ably supported by Rhys (7 off 15).
Bobby was a dasher, and Crofty's long strides (10 off 13)
Closed the gap between us and the target,
Falling with us at 4-58 after 10, judged caught behind (he would have used DRS)

Nando joined Alex hoping to get our tail wagging,
Mustering a handful of boundaries,
Reducing the deficit to 16.

Days like this can really stirrup the emotions,
And when Alex was caught for 23 (19),
Tom 9* (10) ponied-up to take us to the finish line.

Scores tied,
Stallions corralled their fieldsmen close,
Tom slotted it over mid on,
And the West was won.
